Are you exhausted right now? Here’s why . . .

Happy Winter Solstice, love!

Today, as you may know, is the shortest, darkest night all year long for us in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the DEPTH of winter and even though we still have another couple of months of cozy, chill, soup-sipping weather – today marks the turning point from Winter into Spring. From here on out, the days will officially begin to get longer again.

Today marks the turning point of when we move from darkness to light.

This is the time of year that are all being called to SLOW WAY DOWN, to nest, to hibernate.

We humans, just as any animal does, naturally tracks what’s happening in the sky and in the world around us.
​​​​​​​
At this time of the year, our bodies are naturally asking us to slow down, to go within, to be slow and still and hibernate.

​​​​​​​But our society doesn’t really promote those changes and shifts. We live in a world where it’s go, go, go and do, do, do all of the time – especially this time of year!

​​​​​​​There’s this push/pull energy between the holiday bustle and what our bodies really want us to do.  
​​​It’s one of the reasons that a lot of people get exhausted this time of year, get sick, feel depleted or burnt out.
​​​​​​​
In short, we’ve got all of these natural energies that are pulling us, asking us to chill out, and if we don’t listen, we get burnt out.
​​​​​​​
This holiday season, these holy days, I invite you do to things 2 to avoid burnout:

1. Honor the darkness.

 
Yep – the fastest, quickest, easiest way to avoid burnout is to honor these cycles and honor the natural rhythms of your body.

In fact, the whole point of the holiday traditions of Christmas lights or candles on the Menorah is to bring light to the darkness – to acknowledge it and celebrate the stillness.

TRY THIS: Slow down and take at least ONE THING off your to-do list this week.

2. Create a container of support for after the darkness.

 
​​​​​​​​​How would it feel come out of the darkness knowing that you can have….

​​​​​​​Less doubt.
Less obligation.
Less struggle.
Less force.
Less worry.
Less fear.

​​​​​​​and

​​​​​​​More faith.
More trust.
More purpose.
More depth.
More realness?
