Screw the Plan

You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking back. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something; your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever, because believing that the dots will connect down the road, will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well worn path. That will make all the difference.”
– Steve Jobs

After an wonderful evening with a group of incredible women, I found myself relfecting on “The Plan”.

You know “The Plan” I’m talking about, right?

THE plan. The one you learned as a kid – from your parents, your teachers, the movies, the magizines, your friends, your community, from most everyone around you.

Everyone heard a different version of “The Plan”.  The one I learned and believed went something like, “Work hard in high school to get in to a good college so you can get a stable job and then you’ll be all set and life will be okay.” Another plan might sound like “Find yourself a good husband, get married, have kids, buy a house, go to work, watch some tv, do it over again.”

Now, I’m not saying there is anything “bad” or “good” about the above plans.  I personally love routine, being cozy on the couch, having dinner with friends, earning good money.  Following  plan isn’t a BAD thing…but whose plan are you following?  Is the life you’re living yours or is it someone else’s version of life?

Many of us find that we’re not totally happy with “the plan” we’re living?  What if you want to shake things up?  What do you do when you just want to SCREW THE PLAN?
